Purposely Placed started the way most small studios do — one house at a time. Betsy Mincey had been arranging, sourcing, and quietly fixing other people’s rooms for years before it had a name, and by 2007 it had become the actual job: getting a home ready to be seen, whether that meant a listing photograph or a family finally enjoying a room they had been avoiding.

The name is the method. Nothing in a room we finish is there because it filled a gap — every piece is placed for a reason, usually a boring one. This chair turns the conversation toward the water view. That rug is oversized so the bedroom reads as generous. This lamp exists because the room dies at 6pm without it. Buyers do not consciously notice any of it; they just say the house feels right.

Practically, we do two related things. We stage homes for sale — vacant properties furnished top to bottom, and occupied homes edited and restyled around what the owners already have. And we design interiors for people who are staying put, plus vacation rental setups and colour consultations for owners who need a specific problem solved rather than a whole project.

We are based in Palmetto, which puts us within a short drive of nearly everywhere we work — Sarasota, Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Venice, and the barrier islands. That matters more than it sounds like it should: it means Betsy is at the walkthrough, at the install, and reachable when something changes, rather than dispatching a crew to a city she has never stood in.
